Egypt has established 26 power plants over the past five years, with a capacity of 25,000 megawatts, official sources in the Electricity Ministry said on Saturday.
The power plants include 114 power generating units, the sources further told Amwal Al Ghad, adding that the 25,000 MW contributed to the transformation of the country’s deficit to a surplus in the national grid.
“We had pumped investments worth around 287 billion pounds into the field of power production during the period from June 2014 until the beginning of 2019,” they said.
During the second quarter of 2019, the surplus of the current power generation in the country approached 25 percent, the sources said.
