Egypt’s President Sisi inks amendments to law regulating trade unions

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi signed Law No. 142 of 2019 to amend several provisions of Law No. 213 of 2017 related to trade unions.

Under the amendments, the General Trade Union of Workers should include at least 10 unionist committees, grouping at least 15 workers as members.

The Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) will group at least seven general trade unions, to be made up of 150,000 workers as members.
