New academic building in Bahrain to be completed in Q4

A new academic building and multi-purpose hall in Bahrain will be completed and handed over to the the Education Ministry in the last quarter of the year, it has emerged.

The West Riffa Primary School for Girls project, valued at BD926,155, is now almost 64 percent complete.

Work is underway on internal and external finishes, as well as the electromechanical component.

“This project falls within the Education Ministry’s framework to keep with the demand for additional schools as well as expansion in current schools across Bahrain within their priorities to provide a seat for every student,” said construction projects director at the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry Mariam Amin.

“We have taken into account the modern requirements of the Education Ministry in the design to keep up with the continuous educational development in Bahrain.

“The additional building is being constructed on a 2,872 square metre land plot and consists of four floors and seven classrooms with one classroom dedicated for children with special needs.”

The building incorporates green concepts and energy rationalisation to preserve the environment and natural resources, while thermal insulation for surfaces, walls, roofs and windows will reduce electricity costs, of which air-conditioning is a big part.

The design also ensures ease of movement for students and teachers with special needs, while sound-proof roofs and double glazing ensure a quiet and comfortable learning environment.
