A Surgeon and a Maverick: new book honouring the life of Magdi Yacoub

A Surgeon and a Maverick: The Life and Pioneering Work of Magdi Yacoub is a new book celebrating the life and work of prominent Egyptian surgeon Magdi Yacoub.

The 446-page biography is released by the American University in Cairo Press (AUC Press) and is available now to buy from its website for 750 Egyptian pounds.

The biography details the career of Sir Magdi Yacoub, and his earlier years in Britain, along with his serving roles to communities around the world.

It also details the establishment of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation and Research Institute in Upper Egypt’s Aswan.

This is the first authorised biography written by veteran British journalists Simon Pearson and Fiona Gorman.

It is worth mentioning that the biography was written after conducting 25 hours of interviews with Yacoub, his family, friends, colleagues, and patients.
