Egypt’s Utilities Minister Seeks USAID, AmCham Cooperation

Dr. Abdel-Kawi Khalifa, Minister of Utilities, sewage and waste, has held a meeting with a number of officials at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, in order to discuss opportunities  for U.S companies to invest in the Egyptian sector of potable water and sanitation, employing advanced technologies. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Holding Company for Water and Waste Water.

The session also highlighted the need for rationalizing water consumption, reaching solutions that can alleviate the problem of sanitation until the implementation of sanitation projects in all Egyptian governorates be finalized, given that such projects require large funds and long-term schedules. Moreover, it pointed out to the role played by the Holding Company in that sector.
