ADB grants $16.5m to support training in Vanuatu

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Vanuatu signed on Monday a grant agreement worth nearly $16.5 million to support the country’s skills development efforts.

The grant, funded by the Asian Development Fund (ADF), will be used to enhance training opportunities at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology.

The project will include introducing new courses, building infrastructure, providing equipment, and strengthening the institution and its trainers.

The Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific (JFPR) is contributing $3 million to the project, bringing the total cost to $19.44 million.

The JFPR’s funding will support the construction of disability-accessible facilities and new student learning spaces at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology campus in Malampa.

The project will prioritise women and vulnerable groups, such as disengaged youth and people with disabilities, ensuring that its benefits are inclusive and far-reaching, the statement mentioned.
