ADX Ended 0.17% Higher, Aldar Jumps 4.42%

The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) General Index ended 0.17% higher at 2,512.17 points Sunday.

Real estate bellwether Aldar Properties advanced 4.42% to hit Dhs1.15 ($0.31). On Saturday Aldar, which has been bailed by the Abu Dhabi government in 2011 with Dhs36 billion ($9.80 billion), reported a 152% increase in its net profits for the first quarter to Dhs478.2 million ($130.21million) thanks to an improve in sales.

Dana Gas fell 2.13% to Dhs0.45 ($0.12). Last Thursday, Dana Gas said its CEO Ahmed Al Arbeed will retire in September 2012, four weeks ahead before the Sharjah-based energy firm is due to repay a $1bn (Dh3.67 billion or $1 billion) Islamic bond.

Around 74.3 million shares were traded, valued at Dhs95 million ($25.87 million), according to data compiled by AMEinfo.
