The African Development Bank Group’s (AfDB) president has warned leaders in Nigeria and other countries on the continent against making the mistake of selling the resources at give-away prices.
Amid the global community’s increased demand for Africa’s lithium, platinum, cobalt, and other resources for powering green energy, Akinwunmi Adesina gave the warning on Tuesday at the AfDB’s 2023 annual meeting in Egypt.
Adesina also added that African countries, which account for only three percent of global emissions, now suffer the consequences of climate change and the push for energy transition disproportionately.
