Afghanistan’s c. bank to offer $15m in auctions

The central bank of Afghanistan stated on Monday that it will hold an auction on Tuesday to sell $15 million to support the stability of the Afghani, the national currency.

“The bidders, including moneychangers and private banks, should deposit the necessary money in cash in the form of afghani in the central bank Da Afghanistan Bank,” the central bank said in a statement posted on its X account.

The bank was asking all eligible banks, foreign exchanges, and monetary service providers to take part in the auction, as per the statement.

The bank has provided millions of US dollars to the money exchange market over the last three years in an effort to prevent the devaluation of the afghani.
