AfICTA’s 2014 Summit Kicks off in Cairo Today to Foster a ‘Smarter Africa’
Then 2nd AfICTA Summit, the prime event of the Africa ICT Alliance, has just started today in Egypt, with the theme “Fostering a Smart Africa’.
The event will take place in Cairo during the period from November 3-5.
Africa Information & Communication Technologies Alliance (AfICTA) is a private sector led alliance of ICT Associations, Multi-national Corporations, Companies, Organizations and Institutions in the ICT sector in Africa.
Coming up on the heels of the successful 1st Summit 2013 in Lagos, Nigeria, the 2nd Summit is being graciously hosted by the Egyptian Information Technology, Electronics and Software Alliance (EITESAL) (Egypt rep in AfICTA) and the Egyptian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
More than 250 delegates including government executives, business organizations, decision-makers, and experts from international Business Associations; ITU, ICC, ICANN are due to participate in the AfICTA Summit 2014.
More than 80 Business CEOs participants confirmed from 12 African countries: Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Angola, The Gambia, Zambia, Eithiopia, in addition to 100 Business CEOs participants from Egypt.
The Egyptian MCIT Minister Atef Helmy has inaugurated the event with a keynote speech today. He pointed out Egypt’s clear vision for the development of the ICT sector, encompassing plans to attract more foreign investments in the coming six years as well as to provide around 200.000 direct jobs.
The Africa ICT Alliance represents the gateway to achieve Egypt’s development vision, the Egyptian minister noted.
