Airbus is halfway towards its 13,000 positions target
Airbus has filled over 7,000 of the 13,000 positions it is targeting in 2023, in a way to boost staff numbers to meet the increasing demand, the plane maker announced on Wednesday.
“It’s remarkable because when you have close to one-third of your resources joining the company which are representing the future you can think about the future differently,” said Thierry Baril, Airbus’s chief human resources officer.
The hires have put the company on track to fill the remaining positions this year, which in return will support increased plane production, Baril added.
Of the 7,000 new hires, 29 percent are aged 28 and below.
Plane makers and aerospace suppliers are trying to combat worker shortages, which has been holding back plans to increase aircraft production in order to meet the soaring travel demand.
