The Algerian Government decided to lift sanctions over mobile operator Djezzy which would allow the company to import equipment SIM cards and transfer profits abroad, Algerian Al-Fadjr newspaper reported.
Bank of Algeria and Ministry of Finance sent more than 10 official notes to Algerian Presidency and Government included lifting sanctions which lasted for the past three years.
The Algerian newspaper reported that, the notes referred that after Djezzy’s ownership transfer by 51 % to government and replacing its name from Orascom Telecom Algeria (OTA) to Optimum Telecom Algeria sanctions must be lifted.
Sources stated that, the sanctions were due to law violations of the previous owner Orascom Telecom Holding (ORTE.CA).
