Arab construction companies have a big role to play in the development of the Arab World, notably Egypt, said Fahad Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Federation of Arab Contractors.
During a meeting with Ahmed Darwish, chairman of Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), Al Hammadi added that development can be achieved through carrying out a number of infrastructure projects in Arab countries including Egypt.
He further added that Arab construction companies are fully ready to take over projects in different industrial zones alongside with construction works. The two sides also explored the possibility of cooperation between the SCZone and the Federation in the coming days.
SCZone Authority has assigned a number of projects that will mainly be executed by Arab contractors, Darwish said. These projects, which will be implemented in East Port Said Zone, will include paving 5,000 metres and five tunnels, preparing soil, establishing petrochemical complexes, oil refineries, and steel factories.
Al Hammadi asserted that member contractors in the Federation of Arab Contractors are well qualified to take over major projects and are willing to take part in the development of the Arab world.
This meeting was attended by Nasser Fouad, Secretary General of SCZone, and Zayed Al-otaibi, Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Contractors.
