In 2015, Arab states seized 64% of Egypt’s food exports in 2015- council

The Arab states seized 64 percent of Egypt’s total exports of food products with exports estimated at US$1.7 billion in 2015.

Marketing Manager of the Egyptian Food Export Council, Tameem El-Dawy stated Saturday that total food exports recorded US$2.7 billion in 2015.

During a symposium that was held on the sidelines of the Second Annual Date Palm Festival, the manager added that African states were the second largest importer of Egyptian food products with imports of US$325 million, representing 12 percent of the total volume.

He noted that Egypt’s food exports to European states represented 11 percent of the total volume with exports worth US$279 million, followed by U.S. whose imports of Egyptian food products estimated at US$94 million, capturing 4 percent of the total volume.

El-Dawy noted that boosting exports of food industries sector is one of council’s major goals that it targets to achieve through preparing for participations of Egyptian firms in foreign exhibitions, sending promotional missions, holding local forum, in addition to publishing promotional information and exporting opportunities.
