Asian markets briefing 18/05/2023

The Asian markets closed high on Thursday with the Chinese main index, SSEC, rising by 0.40 percent to 3,297.32. The index gained 13.09 points and recorded a day high value of 3,313.86 and a day low value of 3,284.17.

Nikkei 225, Japan’s main index, inched up by 1.60 percent and gained 480.34 points to close at 30,573.93. It recorded a day high value of 30,667.13 and a day low value of 30,381.90.

HSI, Hong Kong’s main index, soared by 0.78 percent to 19,714.08 gaining 153.51 points. The index recorded a day high value of 19,894.23 and a day low value of 19,630.76.
