Australian wages rose by 0.8 per cent in the June quarter, reaching a 4.1 per cent increase year-on-year, according to data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday.
Private sector wages hiked by 0.7 per cent in the quarter, the lowest rise since December 2021. Despite this, annual private sector wage growth held steady at 4.1 per cent, following three consecutive quarters of 4.2 per cent increases.
The public sector experienced a stronger wage growth of 0.9 per cent in the June quarter, the highest since June 2012. Annual public sector wage growth accelerated to 3.9 per cent, up from 3.8 per cent in the March quarter and 3.1 per cent a year earlier.
