Banque Du Caire captures 49% share of Egypt microfinance market

Egypt’s third biggest state-owned bank, Banque Du Caire seizes 49 percent of the country’s microfinance market, its chairman Mounir El Zahid said Monday.

El Zahid referred that Banque Du Caire secured finances for more than 1.365 million micro-sized projects nationwide in the past years. Female breadwinners obtained more than 31 percent of Banque Du Caire’s total microfinances, representing over 38,000 projects.

Banque Du Caire’s policy aims to support the country’s development plans and push economic growth in many sectors, notably the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), El Zahid added.
