Belgium’s inflation decreases in August ’24
Belgium’s inflation rate fell to 2.86 per cent in August 2024, down from 3.64 per cent in July. The consumer price index remained unchanged, while the health index inflation decreased to 3.20 per cent.
Food inflation dropped to 0.04 per cent, contributing just 0.02 percentage points to overall inflation. Core inflation, excluding energy and unprocessed food, also fell to 2.73 per cent.
Energy inflation saw a significant decline to 6.96 per cent from 14.01 per cent in July, influenced by lower natural gas and electricity prices.
The phasing-out of the basic package for electricity and natural gas continued to impact inflation.
