Egyptian authorities have found the body of a foreigner in a garbage bag in the country’s south, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
The corpse of a middle-aged man with a gunshot wound in his chest was found late on Wednesday on a highway in the temple city of Luxor.
It was not immediately clear if the incident was criminally or politically motivated. Investigations are underway.
Egypt has been hit by an Islamist insurgency, based in the border North Sinai region, which has mainly targeted security forces since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
Tourists have mostly been spared the violence that has killed hundreds since then.
