Unknown assailants lobbed a bomb at an army vehicle in Al-Arish city in north Sinai on Friday evening, injuring six army personnel, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
The attack in the restive peninsula comes at the end of a day which witnessed limited demonstrations by some Islamists in parts of the country, in what protest organisers had dubbed an “Islamic revolution”.
Clashes between security forces and protesters have left at least three dead and twenty injured nationwide by evening.
North Sinai has been rocked by an Islamist insurgency which escalated following the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
