An earthquake was felt in Egypt’s Cairo on Saturday afternoon.
The tremor was reportedly the result of an earthquake of 6.7 magnitude detected in the Mediterranean Sea, 48 miles (80 km) west of Chania on the Greek island of Crete, at 13:11 GMT on Saturday.
The centre of the quake was 9.3 miles (15 km) below the seabed, reported Reuters.
The quake concides with the 21st anniversary of the deadly 1992 Cairo earthquake, which left hundreds dead and thousands homeless.
A statement by the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research is yet to be issued.
