In Week, Egyptian Shares Gain EGP10 bln Celebrating 1973 War Victory Anniversary

In a week, Egypt bourse has managed to post gains totaled EGP 10 billion as the capital market has closed at EGP 390.039 billion on Thursday, compared to EGP 380.015 billion a week earlier.

Egyptian Exchange’s benchmark EGX 30 index has jumped by 3.5% this week, representing an increase of 205.48points, ending Thursday’s transactions at 5931.70 points compared to 5726.22 points at the end of last week.

EGX30 hit its highest point on Thursday closing at 5931.70 points, where its lowest point recorded on Tuesday at 5754.42 points.

It is worth noting that, Egyptian Exchange was closed on Sunday 6th October 2013 on occasion of 6th of October Victory.

Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 surged by 1.6% closing at 499  points during Thursday’s session, compared to 491 points at the end of a week earlier. The price index, EGX100 climbed by 2.43% concluding by 843 points during Thursday’s session, compared to 823 points at the end of a week earlier.

Turnovers:

Also in a week, the EGX has recorded a volume of trades hit  426 million securities, compared to 546 million securities a week earlier; while the traded value reached EGP 2.5 billion, opposed to EGP 2.2 billion  a week earlier.

The Egyptian bourse announced that Eid Al Adha Vacation will start on Monday 14/10/2013 until Thursday 17/10/2013. Business will be resumed on Sunday 20/10/2013.

Egypt’s stock exchange benchmark EGX 30 index jumped 3.58 % this week, representing an increase of 205.48, ending Thursday’s transactions at 5,931.70 points compared to 5,726.22 points at the end of last week.

Companies’ Weekly Performance Highlights:

Citadel Capital – (CCAP.CA) closed last week at EGP 3.28, while closed on Thursday at EGP 3.39 (highest close), upping by EGP 0.11 (3%).

Stock lowest close during the week came on Monday at EGP 3.37.

Investors’ Activity:

Local investors led the market activity all through the week, followed by Foreign and Arab investors respectively.

Foreign investors were the most active buyers this week earning the value of EGP 272,055,405.

Local investors were most active sellers this week by the value of EGP 144,740,376.

Arab investors chose also to sell by value of EGP 127,315,029.

Retail & Institutions’ Activity:

Retail activity led the market all through the week as it ranged between 30.14 – 74.21 %.

While Institutions activity ranged during this week between 25.78 – 69.85 %.
