Cairo bourse attains $247m-gains, main index jumps 0.91%

Egyptian stock market attained gains estimated at 2.2 billion Egyptian pounds (US$247.7 million) on Arab and foreign buying appetite .

The market capitalisation reached 417.237 billion pounds during the closing session of Wednesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 rose 0.91 percent to 8524.66 points.

The EGX50 EWI index went up by 1.11 percent to 1347.81 points.

EGX20 hiked by 1.91 percent to 8576.18 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 decreased by 0.75 percent to 344.42 points. The price index, EGX100 declined by 0.92 percent to 808.75 points.

Turnovers low

On Wednesday, the bourse’s trading volume has recorded 366.415 million securities, with turnovers closed at 2.095 billion pounds, exchanged through 27,126 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 177 listed securities have been traded in; 49 declined, 80 advanced; while 39 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and foreign investors were net buyers on Wednesday getting 3.87 percent and 6.11 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 12.963 million pounds and 45.455 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the local investors were net sellers seizing 90.03 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 58.419 million pounds, excluding the deals.
