Cairo bourse ends bullish with $318mn gains

Egyptian stock market finished higher with gains estimated at 2.49 billion Egyptian pounds (US$317.9 million ) on Arab buying appetite.

The market capitalisation reached 428.689 billion pounds during the closing session of Wednesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 jumped by 2.74 percent to 6981.01 points.

The EGX50 EWI index pushed higher  by 1.86 percent to 1204.06 points.

EGX20 soared by 2.76 percent to 7085.35 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 boosted by 1.49 percent to 378.97 points. The price index, EGX100 increased by 1.75 percent to 789.63 points.

Turnovers up

On Wednesday, the bourse’s trading volume has recorded 360.914 million securities, with turnovers closed at 1.209 billion, exchanged through 26,027 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 173 listed securities have been traded in; 23 declined, 23 advanced; while 122 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and foreign investors were net sellers on Wednesday seizing 89.06% and 5.23% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 27.953 million pounds and 26.462 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the Arab investors were net buyers getting 5.71% of the total market, with a net equity of 54.415 million pounds , excluding the deals.
