Cairo bourse posts $204mn gains, EGX30 drops 1.2%

Egyptian stock markets started the week with gains estimated at 1.6 billion Egyptian pounds (US$204.3million ) on local  buying appetite.

The market capitalisation recorded 398.346 billion pounds during the closing session of Sunday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 declined by 1.22 percent to 6126.47 points.

The EGX50 EWI index went down by 1.35 percent to 1100.93 points.

EGX20 dropped by 1.90 percent to 6140.01 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 boosted by 0.80 percent to 352.25 points. The price index, EGX100 increased by 0.10 percent to 709.3 points.

Turnovers low

On Sunday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 139.039 million securities, with turnovers closed at 1.329 billion pounds, exchanged through 14,860 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 163 listed securities have been traded in; 98 declined, 20 advanced; while 36 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and non-Arab investors were net sellers on Sunday getting 2% and 0.87% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 19.159 million pounds and 3.281 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local investors were net buyers seizing 97.13% of the total market, with a net equity of 22.440 million, excluding the deals.
