Cairo indices shut in red, market cap gains $43mn

Egyptian stock market concludes Monday with gains estimated at 341 million Egyptian pounds (US$ 43 million) on local and Arab buying appetite.

The market capitalisation has recorded 393.098 billion during the closing session of Monday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 went down by 0.15 percent to 6146.93 points.

The EGX50 EWI index sagged   by 0.03 percent to 1149.5 points.

EGX20 slumped by 0.45 percent to 6140.21points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 decreased by 0.52 percent to 351.05 points. The price index, EGX100   declined by 0.44 percent to 723.05 points.

Turnovers high

On Monday, the bourse’s trading volume has reached 211.458 million securities, with turnovers closed at 623.802 million pounds, exchanged through 23,439 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 163 listed securities have been traded in; 85 declined, 48 advanced; while 27 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and Arab investors were net sellers on Monday  seizing 72.83 % and 5.2% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 1.250 million pounds and 16.032 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, foreign investors were net buyers seizing 21.97 % of the total market, with a net equity of 17.283 million pounds, excluding the deals.
