Cairo Stocks 0.70% up on Monday

Egypt’s market closed higher Monday posting gains worth 1.3 billion Egyptian pounds (US$166 million). Most stocks are positive ahead of the Eid al-Adha Muslim holiday which will see most markets in the region shut down from Wednesday.

The market capitalisation has reached 446.609 billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 grew 0.70 percent to 7285.25 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index rose 0.63 percent to 1213.29 points.

EGX20 also surged 1 percent to 6938.69 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 went up 0.25 percent to 391.95 points. The price index, EGX100 hiked 0.49 percent to 845.95 points.

Turnovers up

On Monday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 99.074 million securities, with turnovers closed at 1.378 billion pounds, exchanged through 14,002 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 167 listed securities have been traded in; 35 declined, 80 advanced; while 45 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers Monday capturing 1.42 and 3.64 percents respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 8.694 million and 3.500 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local investors were net sellers seizing 94.94 of the total market, with a net equity of 12.194 million pounds, excluding the deals.
