CAPMAS: 9.3 million famillies own a PC in Egypt during 2014

Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced an increase of 9.4 % in the number of families who own a personal computer 9.3 million families in 2014 compared to 8.5 million in 2013.

CAPMAS statistics further revealed that the internet users have grew by 30% to record 18.0 million in 2014 versus 14.5 million in 2013 because of the decrease in internet services prices.

The internet users for educational purposes have hiked by 30.1 %  to reach 10.8 million compared to 8.3 million in 2013

Whereas, internet users to get information about goods and services have  reached 3.7 %in 2014 estimated by 7.3 million in comparison to 2.8 million in 2013.

As result of the increase of social media users, the numbers of persons who use E-mails have  increased by 43.9 % to reach 15.9 million versus 10.7 million in 2013.

Furthermore, the CAPMAS statistics revealed the number of families which have TV  estimated by 19.8 million  in 2014 versus 19.2  in 2013.

Eventually, CAPMAS Will celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on the 17th of May  . The purpose of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.17 May marks the anniversary of the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention and the creation of the International Telecommunication Union.
