The number of expatriates working in Egypt’s public sector fell by 41.4% to 560 during 2014 driven by June 30 uprising repercussions, notably in oil sector, the Egyptian state statistics agency said Wednesday.
In 2013, there were 956 expatriates working in the Egyptian public sector.
According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the European labour force tops the list of expatriates employed in Egypt’s public sector, representing 44.6% or 250. The non-Arab Asian labour force comes second with 124 workers, accounting for 22.1%.
Expatriates from the Oceanian countries (Australia, New Guinea, and New Zealand) are numbered at 18, representing 3.2% of total expatriate workforce in Egypt’s public sector.
