CBE: Local Liquidity Rose By 3.7 Bln In April 2012

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said the local liquidity rose by EGP 3.774 billion, or 0.3%, registering EGP 1.058 trillion at the end of April, up from EGP 1.054 trillion at the end of March.

The monetary supply surged by EGP 2.012 billion, or 0.7%, registering EGP 262.6 billion at the end of April, up from EGP 260.6 billion at the end of March.

Quasi-money rose by EGP 1.762 billion, registering EGP 796 billion, up from EGP 794.3 billion and counterpart assets rose to EGP 1.058 trillion, up from EGP 1.054 trillion.

The ratio of local liquidity to GDP registered 67.4% and the ratio of foreign-currency deposit to total deposit registered 20.9% at the end of April.
