China allocates $91m for flood relief efforts

The Chinese government has earmarked 649 million yuan ($91 million) to support flood response and disaster relief efforts across multiple regions.

The funding, allocated by the Ministry of Finance, will be used to repair damaged infrastructure, address safety hazards, and bolster flood prevention measures.

The targeted provinces include Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Anhui, Fujian, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu, as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Chongqing Municipality.

The move comes as China braces for its main flood season in August, with seven major river basins at risk of flooding and the potential for multiple typhoons impacting the country’s southern and eastern regions.
