China’s bicycle exports rise 13.7% in Q1 ’24

China’s bicycle exports increased by 13.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2024, reaching nearly 11 million units, according to data from the China Bicycle Association, reported by Xinhua on Sunday.

This growth continues the positive trend observed since the second half of 2023, indicating a strong demand for Chinese bicycles worldwide.

The United States emerged as a major destination for Chinese bicycles, with exports surging 47.2 per cent year-on-year to reach approximately 2.3 million units.

Similarly, exports to Russia experienced a substantial rise of 52.1 per cent year-on-year, reaching 930,000 units.

The value of bicycle parts and accessories exported from China also witnessed positive growth. This figure reached $746 million in Q1, representing a 10.8 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2019.

In context, the data highlights that China manufactured 48.83 million bicycles in 2023, with nearly 39.65 million units exported.
