CISCO launches Two Smart Lightening Experiments in Egypt

The strategy of CISCO Egypt for 2015 includes the launch of two new experiments of using smart lightning systems in Egypt, said general manager Ayman El Gohary said on Sunday.

El Gohary stated that through smart lightning experiments, Cisco targets saving power used in the lightning process through connecting lightening networks with Internet of things (IoT) applications.

The activation of those experiments comes in line with Cisco Egypt’s strategy to sign a new cooperation agreement with the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity in the upcoming period, El Ghohary noted. The new cooperation agreement aims to upgrade and rationalise Egypt’s energy through generalising the information technology applications to be later used instead of traditional power sources, he added.

He also pointed out that Cisco Egypt owns around 70% of market share in field of applying IoT all over the world.

Smart lighting is a lighting technology designed for energy efficiency including high efficiency fixtures and automated controls that make adjustments based on conditions such as occupancy or daylight availability.
