COVID-19, Ukrainian war affect women more – IMF director

Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), sent a message in the International Women’s Day that COVID-19, followed by the Russian war and the cost of living crisis affected all people, but it affected women more.

Georgieva continued that she always worked twice as hard as her male colleagues, adding “I don’t want my daughter and granddaughter to work harder than men to be equal to them, I want them to be equal just because they really are.”

She also stated that while things had shifted towards women in terms of the positions and roles they could play, there had been backward steps in gender equality in recent years, according to CNBC.
