Despite the recently strained bilateral diplomatic relations, Egypt’s exports to Turkey have surged by 37% to EGP 9.2 billion during the period from January-November 2013, against EGP 6.7 billion recorded for the same period a year earlier.
Senior sources in Egypt’s Foreign Trade Sector told Amwal Al Ghad on Thursday that Turkey becomes the second largest importer of Egyptian products worldwide after Saudi Arabia which has received Egyptian exports worth EGP 12.8 billion during January-November 2013.
The sources further noted that chemicals sector seizes the lion’s share of Egyptian exports to Turkey, recording around EGP 4.4 billion, followed by textile sector with EGP 1.6 billion then building materials with around EGP one billion.
