EGX 30 Surges 0.66% On Midday, Hits 5754 Pts

During Monday midday session, the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has posted gains of EGP 759 million as the capital market has amounted to EGP 395.097 billion, according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad at 12:39 p.m. Cairo time (10:39 GMT).

EGX indices were in green during midday.

The main index, EGX30 rose by 0.66% to hit 5754.44  p.  EGX20 went up by 0.52% to reach 6714.28 p.

Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 inched higher by 0.58% to hit  530.32 pts.  Price index EGX100 pushed up by 0.56% to reach 878.55 p.

Traded volume reached  53.978 million securities worth EGP 138.579 million, exchanged through 9.278 thousand transactions.

This was after trading in 142 listed securities; 29 declined 74 advanced while 39 keeping their previous levels.

EGX’s midday gains were backed by non-Arab Foreigners’ buying deals.

Egyptians and Arabs were net sellers seizing 81.94% and 5.64% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 28.236 million and EGP 384.692 thousand excluding the deals.

On the other hand, non-Arab Foreigners were net buyers seizing 12.43% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 28.621 million excluding the deals.

Leading Shares:

EGX’s leading shares witnessed unsteady performance.

Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding:

Trading has been suspended for Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding (OTMT.CA)’s stock dropped by 1.69% to reach EGP 0.58.

EFG-Hermes:

EFG-Hermes Holding (HRHO.CA) went down by 0.51% to hit EGP 11.80.

Orascom Construction Industries:

Orascom Construction Industries – OCI (OCIC.CA)’s stock inched higher by 0.64% to hit EGP 267.00.

Citadel Capital:

Citadel Capital (CCAP.CA)’s stock hiked by 0.24% to reach EGP 4.10.

Orascom Telecom Holding:

Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) maintained with no change at EGP 3.72.

Orascom Telecom Holding and its Russian parent Vimpelcom have agreed to provide one another with technical and commercial services to improve the efficiency of their businesses, Orascom said on Sunday.

Orascom said it was changing its name to Global Telecom Holding SAE after Vimpelcom took control of the Egyptian company last year in a deal worth around $6 billion.

It further added that Orascom planned to take control of Canada’s Globalive Investment Holding Corp. after changes to Canada’s foreign ownership laws. The change requires the approval of Canadian investment authorities, expected by early next year.
