EGX closes in red, main index slighly up on March 10

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday’s session in the red, with the EGX30 index slightly up by 0.02 per cent, closing at 31,137.03 points. In contrast, the Shariah-compliant EGX33 index fell by 0.19 per cent, ending the day at 3,317.09 points.

The EGX70, which tracks small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), dipped 0.06 per cent to 8,618 points, while the EGX100 index dropped 0.12 per cent to 11,968.97 points.

The EGX market capitalisation reached 2,289,126,676,936 Egyptian pounds.

In terms of investor activity, non-Arab foreigners were net sellers with a total of 842,813,117 Egyptian pounds. Conversely, Egyptians and Arabs were net buyers with 704,441,132 Egyptian pounds and 138,371,984 Egyptian pounds, respectively.

Top gainers 

  1. Shares of Minapharm Pharmaceuticals (MIPH.CA) soared by 14.45 per cent to close at 186.700 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Acrow Misr (ACRO.CA) climbed by 10.35 per cent, closing at 69.960 Egyptian pounds a share.
  3. Shares of Upper Egypt Flour Mills (UEFM.CA) jumped by 6.48 per cent, to close at 235.510 Egyptian pounds a share.

Top losers 

  1. Shares of Rights Issue of Beltone Holding -4 plunged by 25.78 per cent, closing at 0.095 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Asek Company for Mining – Ascom  (ASCM.CA) sank by 5.52 to close at 37.130 Egyptian pounds.
  3. Shares of El Wadi For International and Investement Development (ELWA.CA) dived by 4.95 per cent to, closing at 0.902 Egyptian pounds.
