The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has suspended trading for half an hour on Monday after share prices soared following the country’s presidential election result.
The benchmark index EGX30 was up 6.8% by 10:20 GMT (12:20 local time) – and share trading was suspended briefly after the broader EGX 100 rose 5 percent, its daily limit
Among the most heavily traded stocks were Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT.CA), up 5.2%, and Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) (OCIC.CA), which gained 7.9%.
