Egypt and Algeria’s trade exchange reached $622 million in first eight months of 2024, according to a report published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Egypt’s exports to Algeria rose to $605 million in the January-August period, up from $556 million during the same period last year. Perfumes, cosmetics, plastics, iron, steel, electrical appliances, and copper drove this increase.
Egypt’s imports from Algeria amounted to $17 million, up from $8 million during the same period in 2023. The principal imports comprised chemical products, iron and steel, glass, and rubber, the report added.
Algerian investments in Egypt amounted to $13.7 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, while Egyptian investments in Algeria stood at $4.5 million, CAPMAS added in its report.
Remittances from Egyptian expatriates working in Algeria recorded $3.9 million, while remittances from Algerians working in Egypt reached $939,000.
