Builders of Egypt ’24: Govt. allocates 5K plots to expand Decent Life Initiative – minister

Egyptian Minister of Local Development, Manal Awad announced on Sunday the government’s allocation of 5,000 land plots for projects in the second phase of the Decent Life Initiative. The initiative aims to provide essential services to rural communities across Egypt.

Speaking at the Builders of Egypt Forum 2024, Minister Awad stated that the first phase of the Decent Life Initiative had successfully supported 1,470 villages. The second phase will focus on expanding access to government services, improving infrastructure, and promoting community development.

To ensure bigger impact, the Ministry of Local Development has signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and the National Alliance for Civil Development Work. This partnership, Minister Awad explains, will establish and operate family and childhood development centres in the target villages.

The centres will provide comprehensive care for children and families, combining the efforts of government institutions, businesses, and civil organisations. This integrated approach aims to build a new generation of responsible citizens and contribute to Egypt’s bright future, she added.

About Egypt’s hosting of the 12th edition of World Urban Forum (WUF12), scheduled for next November, Minister Awad said the event will highlight the country’s progress in urban development, including the elimination of slums and the development of new cities like El Alamein and the New Administrative Capital.

Builders of Egypt Forum, the largest event in the construction and building sector, is taking place under the auspices of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly. It brings together government officials, business leaders, and representatives from Arab and African countries to discuss opportunities for exporting Egyptian construction and building materials. Participants will explore ways to replicate successful Egyptian urban development projects in other regions and enhance Egypt’s real estate export.

The Forum, is organised by Exlnt Communications, an affiliate to United Media Services (UMS), and supported by the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Association (AFCCA). It aims to promote regional development and economic cooperation, showcasing Egypt’s expertise in construction, infrastructure, and sustainable development. By fostering partnerships and attracting investment, the forum contributes to Egypt’s efforts to improve the lives of its citizens and enhance its international standing.
