Egypt announces solar power purchase price at 7.8 cents per kW

Egyptian electricity ministry determined the prices of purchasing electricity generated from solar power.

In a press conference held Tuesday, Minister Mohamed Shaker stated that the prices of purchasing power from solar power projects with capacities of 500-20MW are determined at 7.8 cents for every kilowatt instead of 13.6 cents.

The ministry also determined the purchase price of power generated from solar projects with capacities of 20-50MW at around 8.4 cents per every kilowatt instead of 14.32 cents.

Minister Shaker added that the Egyptian government encourage investments of the private sector in solar and wind power projects.

Shaker clarified that the ministry provides all facilities for companies to participate in new power projects.
