Egypt approves land for energy infrastructure in New Valley
The Egyptian government has allocated the necessary land for the construction of new power transformer stations in the New Valley Governorate, based on the specific needs of its various regions.
The governorate has implemented several solar power networks to supply government offices, mosques, schools, and irrigation wells with a total capacity of 290 MW. This aligns with the political leadership’s directives towards clean and renewable energy.
Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, emphasised the ministry’s commitment to supporting development plans in the governorates by providing the necessary electricity for developmental, investment, and service projects.
This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for citizens and ensure optimal resource utilisation, especially in the New Valley, which covers 44 per cent of the country’s total land area.
Esmat highlighted that the affiliated companies are adhering to the timelines for electricity supply projects as part of a broader strategy to reduce fossil fuel use and increase reliance on renewable energy, particularly solar power in the New Valley.
