Egypt, Belarus to build electric buses factory in Alexanderia

Egypt and Belarus are considering building a factory for electric buses and trucks in Borg El-Arab, Alexandria, a statement by the Ministry of Transport said on Tuesday.

The decision was made during a meeting between the Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir and the Belarusian Ambassador to Cairo Sergei Terentiev.

The officials discussed potential cooperation in a number of transport sectors.

They also explored collaboration opportunities between Belarus, the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport, and the Holding Company for Roads, Bridges, and Land Transportation Projects.

The collaboration includes providing both firms with the latest equipment as well as scaling up the efficiency of their truck fleets.

Al-Wazir said that the ministry took all the necessary measures to implement the presidential directives on the localisation of the bus industry in Egypt.
