Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi discussed on Tuesday Norwegian company DNO ASA’s plans to enter the Egyptian market and expand its investments in oil and gas exploration and production.
Badawi met with DNO Managing Director Christopher Spencer and the company’s Middle East General Manager Sameh Hanna on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2026.
The talks covered DNO’s plans following its agreement to acquire Capricorn Energy, which holds interests in several concession areas in Egypt’s Western Desert and operates there through Badr El Din Petroleum Company (BAPETCO).
Badawi stressed the importance of leveraging DNO’s operational and technological expertise to accelerate new well drilling and workover programmes, while deploying advanced technologies to improve operational efficiency and recovery rates.
These efforts aim to maximise crude oil and condensate production from Capricorn’s operating areas in the Western Desert, develop natural gas resources, and increase production rates.
