Egypt-EU Investment Conference kicks off in Cairo
The Egypt-EU Investment Conference began this Saturday in Cairo. The conference’s goal is to showcase Egypt’s economic reforms and highlight promising sectors for investment.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in his opening speech, said that this conference represents a significant first step towards strengthening relations between Egypt and the European Union. It signifies a move from simply making promises to taking action.
El Sisi also said that the conference was being held during a critical time with ongoing international and regional crises creating challenges for countries worldwide. He emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between Egypt and its European partners to address these issues.
The Egyptian president stated that the conference signifies the European Union’s confidence and support for the Egyptian economy and the economic reforms implemented over the past decade.
Meanwhile, Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, emphasised that the EU would enter into an agreement with Egypt for new projects valued at 25 million euros. These initiatives aim to offer digital and technological training to Egyptians, enabling them to acquire valuable skills for employment. Notably, this collaboration focuses on enhancing the Egyptian private sector.
