Egypt exports 156,000 tons of food to 150 countries in a week – NFSA

Egypt exported around 156,000 tons of food products in 3,810 consignments to 150 countries during the week from 26 Sept. to 2 Oct., the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday.

The shipments were handled by 1,340 companies and covered around 710 food product varieties, including vegetables, fruits, processed fruit and vegetable products, flour, grain products, and other food items, the authority said in its 37th weekly report for 2026.

Sweet potatoes led vegetable exports, with 10,000 tons shipped during the week, followed by onions at 8,000 tons and beans at 5,000 tons. Vegetable exports totalled 36,000 tons across 32 varieties.

Strawberries topped fruit exports at 9,000 tons, followed by pomegranates at 7,000 tons and mangoes at 6,000 tons. Fruit exports totalled 27,000 tons across 23 varieties.

Saudi Arabia was the largest destination for Egyptian food exports during the week, followed by Sudan, Italy, the United States, and Brazil, the authority said.

The figures were included in the authority’s weekly report monitoring Egypt’s food exports and imports and food safety across the supply chain.
