Egypt eyes power generator localisation with global firms

Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, met in Paris with representatives from Onspec Engineering and Contracting, Rehlko Global, and other companies, to discuss cooperation in the power generator industry.

El-Sherbiny stressed the importance of transferring modern technology to localise and deepen industrial expertise, as per a Cabinet statement revealed on Wednesday.

The meeting aimed to improve project efficiency by leveraging Rehlko’s power generator expertise for water and wastewater treatment plants. Discussions centred on localising industries to reduce import costs and advance housing projects.

El-Sherbiny reviewed Rehlko’s power generation units, focusing on their use in housing projects, including those under the Hayah Karima (Decent Life) initiative.

The minister emphasised the importance of training Egyptian technical personnel in operating and maintaining these units to ensure efficient and systematic operation, according to the statement.
