Egypt, France’s AFD discuss strengthening economic cooperation

Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, held a meeting with France’s Ambassador to Egypt, Éric Chevallier, along with Director of the Africa Department at the French Development Agency (AFD), Sandra Kassab, and AFD’s Country Director in Egypt, Clémence Vidal de la Blache, to discuss expanding economic cooperation and reinforcing bilateral partnerships.

Al-Mashat highlighted the depth of relations with France and their progress in recent years, noting the role of AFD in supporting Egypt’s economic growth through projects in priority sectors such as transport, healthcare, energy, education, and housing.

She emphasised Egypt’s commitment to fostering a competitive investment climate to attract foreign investments and drive innovation and sustainable development.

The discussions also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to enhance investment governance and macroeconomic stability, focusing on structural reforms, business environment improvements, and transitioning to a green economy.

Al-Mashat underscored the importance of the Egypt-AFD Country Strategy 2025, titled “For Shared Prosperity,” which aims to maximise international partnerships and development financing in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Paris Climate Agreement.
