Egypt Industry Ministry, Metso sign MoU on mineral processing

Egypt’s Ministry of Industry and Finnish mining company Metso signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday on the sidelines of the Egypt Mining Forum 2026. The MoU aims to provide technical and operational support for mineral processing and extraction, particularly iron ore and phosphate.

The agreement includes support for research activities and laboratory analyses at Metso. It also covers feasibility studies and advanced technical assessments to improve the utilisation of mineral resources.

The cooperation will also include engineering consultancy and the provision of field experts to support local teams and companies, enhance their capabilities, and transfer knowledge.

The MoU will pave the way for detailed and executive agreements to define the technical and commercial scope of each project. This is in line with the ministry’s plans to increase the added value of Egypt’s mineral resources.
