Egypt launches 1st luxury Talgo train ride between Cairo, Alexandria

Egypt has launched the first Spanish Talgo luxury train ride from Cairo to Alexandria, within the directives of the political leadership to update all the railway transport, according to the Ministry of Transportation’s statement on Saturday.

The Minister of Transportation Kamel al-Wazir has assured that the second train will be piloted within the coming days.

The operation of this luxury train constitutes a huge quantum leap in the history of Egyptian railways, as the luxury trains of Talgo resembles the trains operating in European countries.

The trains will provide the highest level of service which will be provided to the passenger with advanced modern technologies and high operational speed of up to 160 km/h.

The seats had designed for the special needs, in addition to display screens for each seat in the first-class carriages and central ones in second-class carriages, as well as fire alarm system.

The Ministry had concluded a contract with the Spanish company Talgo to supply seven new air-conditioned trains with a total value of 157 million euros, including the maintenance contract and spare parts.
